A very windy trip to the Red Lion at Caston this week, although it was slightly better weather than the last time we visited as that was the night of a massive thunderstorm that saw 3 of us getting a lift home.
It was mainly a headwind all the way there with some nasty gusts too just to keep you on your toes as you’re passing gateways and open spaces. Other than that the ride was uneventful enough and we arrived at a nice warm pub.
Tonight’s Orders:
Steve & Howard – Vegan burger with guacamole. ground chickpeas, sweetcorn, coriander, paprika and cumin burger in a toasted salad bap, soy yoghurt dressing and chunky hand-cut chips
Nick – The B.E.S.T burger. 2 4ox 100% British beef burgers topped with Emmental cheese, Shallot onions and tomato slices in a toasted brioche bun with hand-cut chunky chips
Howard – Vegan burger with guacamole
On the last visit the burger was good, this time however the burger wasn’t quite so good, it was a bit dry and the roll tasted and looked like it had been frozen and also wasn’t the brioche bun that was described on the menu. The chips too weren’t the best but they were spiced with something to disguise any other flavours. I hope this isn’t another venue we need to remove from our list as its been really good in the past, so we might just have to give it another chance.
